Ferrari 458 Joins Grid FIA GT1 World Championship

The FIA GT1 World Championship is preparing for the 2012 season. The organisation has released two announcements over the weekend.

Stephanel Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, confirmed that negotiations had been on-going on several fronts over the past few months and SRO was now in a position to begin announcing a number of key developments prior to the opening event in Nogaro on 9 April. The first of those announcements is the confirmation of Pirelli as the official tyre supplier for the FIA GT1 World Championship and the FIA GT3 European Championship in 2012.

BMW 640i Gran Coupe price

BMW has announced the BMW 640i Gran Coupe pricing will start at $76,895 in the US market including the $895 destination charge.

The 640i Gran Coupe is powered by a TwinPower Turbo 3.0 liter inline-six engine with 320 PS (235 kW / 315 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. It will arrive in dealerships at the beginning of summer before it is joined by the V8 powered 650i Gran Coupe later in the season.

The Easy Access door system uses central body pillars integrated into the sliding rear doors of the B-MAX and is claimed to be a significant leap forward in vehicle design as it enables unprecedented access.

The most intriguing part of the Ford's use of moveable central body pillars will be answered when the media finally gets its hands on the B-MAX and we finally see how all Ford's computer simulations on the B-MAX's body rigidity translate to to the vehicle's handling. Ford claims the strategic use of high-strength steels in key parts of the body have enabled the chassis to maintain high torsional rigidity.

The B-MAX had previously been announced to debut at Geneva, but now we know the B-MAX will debut at MWC, and that executive chairman Bill Ford will be one of the keynote speeches at the conference. It will be interesting to see just what new technologies will be introduced.

The B-MAX will still makes its planned debut to the automotive world at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on March 6.

Ford remains the slowly remove mock of its all-new Ford B-MAX small MPV prior to the model's fantastic leading at the 82nd Geneva Worldwide Auto Salon in the beginning of Goal.

This time we get a full-blown picture of the Ford B-MAX's modern lightweight front gates and moving back gates that include the main body support beams, which Ford known as "Easy Access Doors".

The design allows for 1.5-metre (close to 5 feet) wide clear spaces on either side of the B-segment multi-activity car.

New Vauxhall Combo Goes on Sale in the UK

The latest generation of the Fiat Doblo van has the fairly unique (but not sole) distinction of being offered more or less unchanged by several different auto brands. These include Opel and its sister company in the UK, Vauxhall, and starting from early 2013, the Chrysler Group's Ram Truck division will also offer the van in North America. For the time being though, Vauxhall has launched sales of the New Combo in Britain. The light commercial vehicle is available with a choice of four diesel units ranging from a 1.3-liter CDTi with 89bhp (90PS) to a 2.0-liter CDTi delivering 133bhp (135PS).

Mazda Records US$1.3 Billion Loss

Last week, Mazda forecast a net loss of 100 billion yen (US$1.29 billion) for the fiscal year that ends March 31 and a 2 percent drop in its global sales, to 1.25 million units.

This is the fourth year in a row than Mazda records negative results and it's also the company's second biggest loss in the last 11 years after the US$2.0 billion damage it posted in the previous fiscal year that ended in March 2011.
