Subaru to separate next-gen WRX from Impreza model line

When Subaru revealed its new shape 2012 Impreza earlier this year it was in stock ‘old lady’ trim, but WRX fans immediately begun imagining it with the full kit and big gold rims. But this time around it won’t be that simple as, according to reports, the next WRX will be built as an entirely separate model line.

Due for release in 2014 the new WRX may become a sports coupe with an entirely different design to the new Impreza. The two models will continue to share a platform but the upcoming WRX will have a shortened wheelbase for improved handling dynamics.

A Subaru source said recently, “The first thing you must understand about our all-new WRX is that we have developed it from the ground up to win in motorsports events. That’s why we have focused so heavily on weight issues, not to mention a shorter wheelbase that permits faster, more precise turn-in. Marry that to our proven AWD system, and we think we have a winner.”

Jaguar XE in Death Valley Spied

Here are the latest spy shots of a Jaguar XE mule doing some hot-weather testing in Death Valley, USA.

Noticeable here is the new centrally-mounted twin exhaust of this test mule, which seems extraneous to the double pipes at each end of the rear fascia - the mark of the current XK set-up upon which this mule is based. The EX mule here is riding on a shortened XK chassis and body.

We also see some changes to the interior in the single photo of the cabin.

The 2013 XE will be a two-seater sold as both a coupe and cabriolet and will compete against the likes of the Porsche Cayman and 911 models.

2013 BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo spied

The 3-Series sedan launched the newest addition to the family of BMW’s bread and butter model, the Gran Turismo.

Grand Turismo will have been go on sale by the end of 2012 or early 2013. The new 3GT will be designed in equal body styles with those of the 3 series, which include the four-door sedan, the two-door coupe, the five-door station wagon and the hardtop convertible, directing BMW its substantive rival to the Audi A5 Sportback.

Different from the Bavarian firm’s first GT model based on the 5-Series, the 3 GT seems to have sportier lines with a lower roof. However, the addition of the rear hatch at the back should improve practicality over the standard 3-Series sedan model.

Although the swirly camouflage leaves a lot to the imagination, except from the bespoke rear end styling, it looks like the 3 GT will also get a modified nose and frameless doors. It is expected there are some changes and unique to this body style features in the interior.

BMW Unveils New M3 Coupe Concept

BMW and Audi have released details of the racing cars they plan to enter into the 2012 season of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) German touring car championship.

BMW unveiled its all-new BMW M3 DTM Concept Car at the company’s headquarters in Munich. The new M3 DTM will mark BMW’s return to the championship after a 20-year absence. The M3 DTM Concept showcases an all-new body and a V8 engine producing around 353kW of power. Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Dr Klaus Draeger, said at the unveiling,

“Next year, BMW returns to the DTM after two decades. We will be facing our main competitors in the premium sector and are already looking forward to this challenge. The DTM comeback sees BMW return to its roots.”

Meanwhile, Audi has released a rendering of what its new 2012 Audi A5 DTM car will look like. This will be the first time Audi has stepped away from basing its DTM cars on an Audi A4. Audi has said that although these renderings are based on the outgoing Audi A5 shape, the actual race car will adopt the 2012 Audi A5 style.

Audi says the new car will feature a full carbon fibre monocoque platform with an integrated roll cage system allowing the new car to be the safest yet. Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport, recently said,

“Our engineers have been involved in bringing up safety in the DTM, which had already been high before, to the highest possible level. At higher speed, lower deceleration is specified in order to protect the driver even better than before.”

2011 BMW 6 Cabrio F12 by Hamann

For the wheel, customers can choose alloy wheels 21 inches in the Design Edition Race “ANODIZED” high gloss chrome flange rim, black spokes and titanium screws DESIGN “ANNIVERSARY EVO” wheels in silver or matte black, available in 20 or 21 inch format. Hamann Motorsport also offers design EDITION RACE wheels in a matte black 20-inch version. 2011 Spada Codatronca Monza leak

The Spada Codatronca Monza will more than likely feature the same V8 engine found in its older brother, the Codatronca TS. The TS was going to be offered in three different variants; a TS "Sport Tourism" with 512 HP engine, a TSV "Fast Sport Tourism" with 513 HP, and a TSS "Sport Super Tourism" with 700 HP. The TSS "Sport Super Tourism" was even capable of a 211mph top speed, unfortunately, it never saw the light of production day. The only variant that successfully stomped across the production line was the tamer of the three - the TS - which brought in $425,000 per unit. It is rumored that the Monza version will feature a larger power output than that of the TS, with a probable 630 hp at 6500 rpm and 492 lbs-ft at 4800 rpm.

The ultimate Evora will be inspired by the Racer Evora. It’ll be lighter and stiffer than the Evora S with a stripped-out cabin, focused on track duty. It will gt an upgraded version of the supercharged V6, originally from Toyota Camry, which as mentioned will make around 400bhp.

Hyundai Working On Porsche 911 Rival

We had heard that the next gen Hyundai Genesis will get a V8. But it seems Hyundai has more ambitious plans in mind for their next sportscar.

This is just a rumor for now, but Hyundai is said to be developing a full-on sportscar, powered by the firm’s Tao 5.0-liter V8 which makes 430 hp in the Genesis sedan R-Spec, to take on the best of the GT class, cars like Porsche 911, BMW 6 Series, Corvette Zo6, Nissan GTR, and so on.

Now, if you are rolling on the floor laughing at the notion of a Hyundai supercar, you should remember what the Korean car maker has accomplished since 2007. Take the Genesis Coupe for example, a car that created such a buzz in the affordable sports coupe segment, and challenged bigger, more expensive cars.

The point is, they know how to make sportscars. For the rumored 911 rival, they are considering two front and mid-engine layouts. But it almost certainly will be a rear-wheel-drive car.

Brabus is claiming to have built the world’s most powerful and fastest four-seater cabriolet, outfitting Mercedes-Benz‘s E-Class Cabriolet with an 800-hp V12 Biturbo powerplant. The result is a made-to-order E-Class Cabriolet with a price tag of $681,000 (based on today’s conversion rates).

The 800-hp V12 engine uses the three-valve S600 motor but stroked to 6.3-liters with plenty of headwork. Along with the reworked motor, Brabus bolts on two special exhaust manifolds with larger turbochargers. Four water-to-air intercoolers provide more than adequate cooling while all the gasses are expelled from a quad-tipped exhaust system. Under the custom hood is an integrated carbon fiber ram-air intake manifold. The peak torque of the 6.3L is an astonishing 1,047 lb-ft, but the E-Class Cabriolet is electronically limited to 811 lb-ft.
